On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the second edition of the Tummers Cup took place. Eight teams from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark competed on the grounds of R.K.V.V. METO. At the end of the day, the U15 team from Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium) triumphed in the final, taking home the Tummers Cup!

For the second consecutive year, Tummers proudly served as the main sponsor of the Tummers Cup, a tournament established in 2023 to provide young football players from the region an opportunity to play matches against professional clubs. On May 26, the U15 teams from Beerschot (B), Kolding IF (DK), KV Mechelen (B), NAC Breda, Roda JC, SK-Beveren (B), Union Saint-Gilloise (B), and local pride METO competed to determine the ultimate champion.

An Exciting Final

The evenly matched teams led to an exhilarating final decided by penalties. With SK Beveren finishing third, KV Mechelen second, and Union Saint-Gilloise first, the podium was dominated by Belgian teams this year. Local pride METO fought valiantly but ultimately settled for eighth place.

At the end of the day, Union St-Gillis received the Tummers Cup from Fons Tummers, founder of the Tummers Group companies. Additionally, Kolding IF was awarded the fair play award, and the title of ‘Player of the Tournament’ went to Rodrigo, the captain of Union Saint-Gilloise.

A Nice Amount Raised for Charity

Despite several rain showers, a supportive crowd came and went throughout the day to cheer on the young players. As a result, a significant amount was raised for the tournament’s associated charity: the construction of a football cage for the students at the school where Tim Janssen taught.

Tim, a passionate football fan, passed away last year due to a brain tumor. His son, Tjeu, had a special role and kicked off the semi-final between Union Saint-Gilloise and SK Beveren. Thanks to the generous proceeds, the football cage project is one step closer to realization, a cause that Tummers, R.K.V.V. METO, and SK Beveren are all deeply proud of.
